NDSB prepares eligible students for the Cecchetti ballet exams. These are held annually in classical ballet. Students must attend 2 lessons per week from Grade 1 onwards and 3 lessons per week at major levels to be eligible. Students will be selected at the discretion of the principals to undertake these examinations.
Private lessons are encouraged prior to examinations and extra lessons may be scheduled.
Exams are optional and are held in August and September. A piano rehearsal is held close to the official exam to familiarise students. In the July school holidays there are daily exam lessons for at least one week of the holidays, please consider this if planning to go away.
