New Classes at RDA

We are excited to add a new class to our Roseville Timetable.

Progressing Ballet Technique – Ball Class

Friday, 5:45-6:45pm

For Year 2 students & older

Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) is an innovative body-conditioning and strengthening program that has been designed to enhance students’ technique by focussing on training the muscle memory required in each exercise in all forms of dance. It is a unique training system using ballet-technique specific exercises to train skill acquisition in a graded and progressive manner from junior through to advanced levels.

Students will need a theraband band and an Exercise Ball for this class, also know as a ‘Swiss Ball’ or ‘Fit Ball’

Using your height to size up your ball

When you stand next to an exercise ball, it should be even or slightly above your knee level. The best way to size up your ball is by sitting on it. When you sit on the ball, knees should be bent at a 90-degree angle and your thighs should be parallel or even with the floor.

Find your height and see which ball size you should try first.

Height                Recommended Ball Size

142cm                 45cm ball

142-160cm          55cm ball

160-178cm          65cm ball

178-193cm          75cm ball

We will also be adding some extra Ballet classes to our Friday RDA timetable:

Ballet 7, 4:15-5:15pm

Ballet 7 Pointe, 5:15-5:45pm

Concert 2020

In a year like no other Lane Cove & Roseville Dance Academies are planning an end of year performance like no other.

Due to COVID19 we have decided on a different format for our end of year concert. Our usual end of year extravaganza, with 700 performers, 1500 costumes and 3000 audience members will just not be possible in 2020.

We have considered many options but think that during this unprecedented and unpredictable time it will be safest for everyone if we do not hold a live performance this year.

Instead we are creating our own film studio at Lane Cove Dance Academy where all students will be able to perform their dances and be filmed for our online performance link.

COST

We are trying to keep costs to a minimum this year. Each family wishing to participate in our end of year performance will be charged a $35 concert fee which will cover; a prop or headdress, the filming day, editing and the performance link.

This fee has been added to your Term 4 invoice.

COSTUME/UNIFORM

Unfortunately it is not possible to source all of the beautiful costumes we usually have for our end of year productions. Instead each student will purchase 1 new leotard and students will wear this leotard for all of their dances on filming day; ballet, jazz, contemporary, tap & acro. This leotard will also double as our new LCDA & RDA uniform for 2021!

Leotards will cost between $28-$55 depending on your size and style.

Bloch offers Lane Cove & Roseville Dance Academy students between a 5% & 15% discount depending on how many classes you attend at LCDA & RDA.

We are currently in contact with Bloch to try and make this process as easy as possible for everyone. Once we have details confirmed we will let you know and share our new uniform colours with you!

Additional Uniform for filming;

Ballet – pink ballet tights & pink ballet shoes.

Jazz – black shorts & black jazz shoes.

Contemporary & Acro – black shorts

Tap – black shorts & black tap shoes.

Hip-Hop students will source their own costumes, hopefully from their existing wardrobe.

This will keep costs down for our 2020 performance and everyone will have their new uniform ready for 2021!

FILMING DATES

Filming will take place 6th-12th December at Lane Cove Dance Academy.

Roseville Dance Academy will film their dances on Sunday 6th December. Please see timetable HERE.

Lane Cove Dance Academy will film their dances between 6th-12thDecember. Dances will mostly be filmed on their normal class days, e.g. if you attend Ballet Beginners on Thursdays you will be filmed on Thursday 10th December.

There are some exceptions to this so please see timetable HERE!

This is a new venture for us so we are still trying to figure things out as we go. Please bear with us and if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Once again we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your wonderful support this year! We really appreciate all of the kind messages of encouragement and support that we have received throughout the year.

Term 3 Newsletter

Thank you for everyone’s patience and support with our new COVIDsafe procedures.

Term 2 Fees

Term 2 invoices have now been raised.

We will be offering a 25% discount for online classes.

Online class links will only be issued after fees have been paid. Fees are due by Saturday 25th April. Fees paid after this date cannot be guaranteed their class link for that week.

Families with an outstanding Term 1 invoice will also not be issued with Term 2 online class links.

If you require a payment plan for Term 2 please email the office.

Active Kids/Creative Kids Vouchers

Active Kids Vouchers can not be used for online classes. Any Active Kids Vouchers we receive will be used for lessons once we return to the studio.

Creative Kids Vouchers can be used for online classes, these vouchers must be received by 25th April to be applied to your Term 2 invoice. All vouchers received after this date will be applied to your Term 3 invoice, there will be no exceptions.

To use your Creative Kids Voucher towards your Term 2 invoice just send us;

  1. Child’s full name as it appears on the voucher
  2. D.O.B. (not the voucher expiry date)
  3. 16 digit voucher number (not the whole voucher please)

We will then apply it to the invoice and you can pay as normal through the family portal.

Active/Creative Kids Vouchers will not be transferred to another organisation once LCDA/RDA have received them. Nor will they be accepted from another Active/Creative Kids Provider.

Cecchetti Ballet Exams

Students who were planning on sitting their Cecchetti Ballet Examination in the April or September main session will continue to work towards sitting their examination at the next main session. At this stage we do not know when this will be.

We are hoping that Ballet Beginners-Ballet 4 students will be able to sit the exams before the end of 2020. Again, we are not sure when this will be but will keep parents updated.

We hope everyone is having a relaxing holiday and we can’t wait to see you back in class, even if it is through a computer screen!

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Kind regards,

LCDA & RDA Team
